Styling UNIF "Don't Trip" Slides

Slides have been very big recently, everyone's been coming out with different pairs. Leave it to UNIF to make my favorite pair, as with anything they make obviously. My only thing about slides, is I'm never crazy about how they look on me. I might get a pair soon, and make them work because I love these so much! I just have this looming fear of wearing shoes that shoe my ankles. I've never known what the problem with it is, I just hate it on myself. But this is the year I'm going to try to be better about breaking out of bad habits, and trying new things! One of them being, showing my bare feet!
You can find the UNIF Slides HERE on TiltedSole.com

Get 15% off your purchase using "MELREY15" at checkout until July 31st!

What I love about the look I put together here is the modern take twist on the 90's look that I feel like the over-all shorts gives!

DAMSEL IN DISTRESS(ED DENIM)

SO PERSONALLY, I'M NOT A BIG JEANS PERSON, JUST BECAUSE I DON'T FIND THEM TO BE THE MOST COMFORTABLE, BUT IT IS SOMETHING I AM TRYING TO WORK MY WAY INTO WEARING MORE! MY PERSONAL PREFERENCES FOR JEANS IS DEFINITELY LIGHT WASH, ACID WASH, BLACK, AND TRASHED.  NEARLY EVERY DESIGNER WHO DOES DENIM HAS COME OUT WITH SOME KIND OF DISTRESSED DENIM LOOK!
I OWN A FEW PAIRS OF JEANS, AND ALL OF THE ONES I OWN HAVE SOME KIND OF RIPS OR DISTRESSED LOOK TO THEM! IT'S SAFE TO SAY THE DISTRESSED, TRASHED LOOK ON DENIM IS HUGE RIGHT NOW. ALSO, NOT JUST ON JEANS. BUT I SEE DISTRESSED DENIM JACKETS QUITE A BIT AS WELL!

I recently traded a pair of UNIF Twerk Jeans, for a UNIF distressed denim jacket with some cute patches on them! I'd say that was a fair trade, because I didn't wear the jeans all that much, and I've already gotten so much wear out of the jacket! I did a small shoot today wearing that jacket, and some ripped jeans!

If you tend to be crafty like myself, and don't feel like paying the extra money that really ripped off pieces cost, why not get into some DIY? I'm all about doing things myself if I can, and especially if it saves me money! Here's how I learned to distress denim! NOW GO DESTROY SOME PANTS!!

Think Pink! (But mostly black)

Cardigan // H&M
Tank // H&M
Pants (with DIY holes) // H&M
Faux Leather Bag // H&M
UNIF Choke Boots // TiltedSole!

I made a trip out to Chapel Hill to do some pictures for an advertisement for a local smoke shop that my friend Pavi runs, and after taking pictures for that, I asked if she'd be kind enough to take some pictures of me for the blog!

Here's to short, pink hair! I know I haven't updated a personal post on this in awhile, and last time I posted here, my hair was long, and orange! I recently decided it was time for some new beginnings, and something I've never done before! I feel like the short hair suits me, and this pink is giving me life! I feel so fabulous; I just wish I had hair to flip!

I've also been wearing these UNIF Choke Boots nearly everyday. They look intimidating at first glance, and you'd think they'd be a clunky, uncomfortable boot, right? NOPE. I could walk around for hours in these babies, and still have the energy to cartwheel in circles! I've had them for quite some time now, and I feel like I can say for sure, that they're my favorite boot I've ever owned. I got them for myself for Christmas, from TiltedSole! At the time they were having an amazing Black Friday deal, and they always have free shipping in the US!
Right now Tilted Sole is having a Easter Sale of an additional 40% already reduced items! Don't miss out, because it's only through Easter weekend!

Woman Crush: Wednesday Addams!

Who knew an 11 year old Christina Ricci, as Wednesday Addams in a black with white peter pan collar dress would flash forward to 2015, and end up being such a huge trend. An effortlessly chic dress look, or a very last minute Halloween costume, accompanied by some braided pig-tails, tired eyes, pale skin, and a widows peak, the signature dress can be found at most clothing stores or websites! One of my favorite brands who kills the Wednesday Addams collar trend is a California based clothing, accessory, and shoe company, Deandri!

One of favorite brands, Deandri, is consistendly serving up some Wednesday Addams realness, whether it's a black with white collard dress, or a collared suspender crop top! They even have these fabulous bibs! It may seem strange, but I remember thinking back years ago, "Why hasn't anyone made something I can put any shirt/high neck dress as a collar?!" The internet is full of just little detachable collars, but when Deandri came out with the full under garment bib, they changed the whole game! If it still sounds bizzarre, check out the pictures below, and be informed! Deandri is seriously killing the game with all of their innovative different takes on this contrasting collar trend! Every blogger I follow has sported pieces by Deandri, and even tattooed mega babe, Kat Von D is crazy about Deandri! She's even gone as far to call their BLACK AND WHITE GRADY DRESS, "Dress of the year!"

All of these pictures were taken straight from Deandri's Instagram: Deandri

THIS SIGNATURE STYLE LOOKS GREAT ON ANYONE, AND I MYSELF HAVE A FEW PIECES THAT GO ALONG WELL WITH THE THEME, SO FOR HALLOWEEN AT WORK, I DID A WEDNESDAY LOOK, TO KEEP IT WITHIN DRESS-CODE. TONS OF STORES LIKE H&M, ROMWE, AND FOREVER 21 HAVE ALL CARRIED, OR CARRY PIECES LIKE THESE, AT PRETTY REASONABLE PRICES!
